The newly adopted kittens arrived home safe and sound. Misty is very outgoing and is in to everything. She started playing about ten minutes after arriving. Pringles is a little timid at the time and has taken to hiding behind the washer, but have started to venture out when it is fairly quiet. Believe she will get over the stress very soon. Two beautiful kittens in a wonderful home!

I had one of our customers phone me on Monday to congratulate me on the adoption of our young furry Kenneth. She said she saw us in the Aurora newspaper! My husband, also Ken, picked one up yesterday and sure enough, there we are--and not a bad picture, I must say. I hope it helps with CAPS awareness.
I also wanted to let all the volunteers at CAPS know that we absolutely love Kenneth! He has undergone a name change, though. I really don't think he was aware of the change at all. We had to change his name from Kenneth because it just sounded too weird with my husband, Ken, going around the house calling his own name--people could have thought he was losing it. So Kenneth has become our little guy's second name and his first name has become Hummbug. He got that name mostly because of his persistent purr--he can purr LOUDLY for an hour without stopping. He's also close to the color of the old Humbug candies we used to get--not sure if you can still get them--but he's just as sweet as they are.
Our cat, Dudley Stunderwhat, thinks that Hummbug is a good playmate for him--we call him Dudley's kitten. Dudley loves to watch Hummbug race through the house and sometimes I catch Dudley chasing Hummbug and then Hummbug chasing Dudley. Our two furry girls, Myra and Inky, think he's just a rambuncious little teenage boy--kids!
A friend gave us a nylon cat tent complete with a mouse hanging from the middle inside. It has sat idle for a couple of months until Hummbug moved in. He treats it like a hamster ball, but it's pyramid shape and doesn't roll very well. He pounces on it, jumps at it, dives into, and makes it roll across the floor with him in it. Too much fun! When Hummbug wears out, he plops himself on my desk between me and my keyboard--hard to get any work done. He made himself at home as soon as he arrived with us. We think that is mainly due to the attention he got at CAPS, handled by humans and roaming freely and socializing with other cats.
I could go on forever .... , but I won't. I just wanted to say thank you to CAPS for a lovely furry child. I would also like to suggest that others consider adopting from CAPS--you won't regret it.

This beautiful boy is Taffy. He started out life with a broken leg and very worried foster parents. Now he is adopted to a wonderful family and spends his evenings snoozing in their arms, and getting up to all kinds of mischief! Taffy is an early riser, and starts to get people up before dawn...it's never too early for breakfast!

On March 14th, 2008, I piled my new CAPS family into the back seat of my Echo and whisked them away to their new home in Mount Uniacke. For an hour and a half, the dog happily bounced from window to window while the cat hissed in dismay and vomited in his crate...And I seriously began to question my own sanity!
A year and a half later, Gabe and Daniel sleep, eat and play together, and fill my world with endless amounts of love, laughter and joy. Gabe, the beagle, is now a playful, rambunctious three year old. We often go on overnight backpacking trips and he happily carries his own food, toys and other gear in his saddlebags. Daniel, the little black cat, is also three years old and is the sweetest, gentlest cat you ever did want to meet. He’s very affectionate and loves to scrape the flesh of everyone he meets with that extreme-grit, sandpaper tongue of his. Daniel adores Gabe, and Gabe watches over him as any big brother would.
Today, we’re one big happy family and I’m grateful to CAPS and Anna for bringing us all together; we are truly blessed.
