Our family’s collective hearts were broken. Thomas, our beloved feline companion, had gone to Rainbow Bridge and the void in our lives seemed like it would never be filled. This was felt most profoundly by our daughter, Jessica. Thomas was her constant companion, her solace and her friend. How would her heart ever mend? We hoped that time would heal her wound and that, someday, she would love again.
In June of 2009, it was a day like any other. Yet something drew me to the search for her heart’s content. And, serendipitously, there he was, gazing at me longingly from the CAPS website adoption page. His name was Chevy and he was everything I could have hoped for and more. This ever-so-tiny tabby kitten seemed to be our Thomas, in miniature. With bated breath and a secret hope, I showed Chevy’s photo to Jessica; she was at once smitten. We had found HIM. Ever grateful that Thomas had shared his life with us, it was now time for our family, and most especially our daughter, to welcome another love into our hearts.
It is with overflowing gratitude and praise for the work of the many volunteers of the Companion Animal Protection Society that I can say our Jessica’s heart is now whole again. In having rescued this stray and abandoned beautiful creature (now named Ozzy and also affectionately nicknamed Weenie Weens), CAPS has made a profound impact on the life of a young woman and her family. And as Ozzy grows, so, too, does our love and affection for him. He is ours and We are his….furever.

SONATA
In June of 2007 we adopted our first two cats from CAPS, followed by another in December of the same year. After many visits to this CAPS foster home, we saw a dog that tugged at our hearts, so in February of 2008 we added her to our family. In May 2009 we adopted an adorable calico from the same foster home, thinking our four legged family was complete. However, this summer, we saw our latest, most loveable cat with her two adorable babies. After her motherly duties were finished, we brought Sonata home in December of 2010. She has fit in so well with the rest of the fur family. We just love her. - H&H Huntley, Kentville, NS

ELEANOR
On December 10th, 2010 we made our journey to Margaretsville from Bridgewater to adopt our fourth beagle. We first fell in love with her picture on the CAPS website and soon after that we made a trip to meet her and fell even more in love. Eleanor has come into our pack seamlessly. Our other three dogs also fell in love with her. She is a real joy, she is playful, loving, and is a perfect addition. She gets along great with the four cats we have, in fact she plays with them as often as they will allow her to. We take great pride in rescuing all our animals and rehabilitating them when need be, however Eleanor needs no rehabilitation, she is a real doll. We will love her forever, and she has her "furever" home for sure. The volunteers at CAPS were absolutely wonderful to deal with, we will return for rescues in the future without a doubt. And Anna and Alfred were the most wonderful fostering parents we could have asked for, we have bonded over this little dog as well as made new friends through the CAPS organization. Thank you so much for allowing us to rescue sweet Eleanor. Love and Hugs from Adam and Kim WEAGLE, Jasper, Gunther, Maggie, Eleanor(beagles) Sam, Sadie, Daisy, and Lily(cats) - Adam and Kim Weagle and their family live in Bridgewater, NS.

PRINGLE and MISTY
The newly adopted kittens arrived home safe and sound. Misty is very outgoing and is into everything. She started playing about ten minutes after arriving. Pringles is a little timid at the time and has taken to hiding behind the washer, but have started to venture out when it is fairly quiet. Believe she will get over the stress very soon. Two beautiful kittens in a wonderful home!
(Pringle and Misty were adopted together in November 2009)
